Former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro is set to serve four months in prison after being found guilty of contempt of Congress for failing to respond to congressional subpoenas related to the investigation of the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack. Despite his age of 74, Navarro will soon report to a minimum-security federal Bureau of Prisons satellite camp in Miami, making him the first former White House official to be jailed for contempt of Congress. As he prepares for this new chapter, Navarro is nervous about the unknown world of prison life but has sought guidance from a prison consultant to help him acclimate to his upcoming incarceration.

Navarro’s prison consultant, Sam Mangel, has been providing support and advice to Navarro as he mentally prepares to spend his next few months in prison. Mangel revealed that Navarro is anxious about the impending experience, but is determined to navigate this challenging period in his life. With the support of Mangel and the prospect of early release for federal inmates, Navarro is expected to serve approximately 90 days of his four-month sentence, while also engaging in prison classes and employment opportunities to reduce his time behind bars.

In the prison camp where Navarro will be serving his sentence, there are two other clients of Mangel who are currently incarcerated and planning to assist Navarro in adjusting to prison life. The facility in Miami has a unique history and houses fewer than 200 inmates, offering limited privacy but the safety of elderly dormitories for inmates like Navarro. As he faces the reality of his upcoming prison term, Navarro will have access to communication channels such as phone calls and email, along with the opportunity to stay informed through TVs airing news in both English and Spanish inside the prison.
