President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made two notable appointments to assist in his efforts to raise funds for Ukraine. Former Ukrainian soccer legend Andriy Shevchenko has been appointed as a special adviser to the president, while British actor Mark Strong has been named an ambassador to the charity established by Zelenskyy. Shevchenko, who is already an ambassador of United24, a charity created by Zelenskyy after Russia’s invasion in 2022, expressed his commitment to working even harder to help his country abroad through soccer and charity events. Meanwhile, Strong, known for his roles in films such as “Kingsman” and TV series like “Deep State,” voiced his honor in becoming a voice for Ukrainian children worldwide.

Shevchenko’s new role as a special adviser to the president is set to build upon his existing ambassadorship for United24. Although the specific duties have not been clarified, the soccer icon’s main focus remains supporting his country through soccer and humanitarian initiatives abroad. As an ambassador, Shevchenko has been actively involved in raising funds for Ukraine, especially since the country’s invasion by Russia. Shevchenko’s appointment highlights the significance of using influential figures in sports to not only generate donations but also keep the international spotlight on Ukraine.

Mark Strong’s appointment as an ambassador further strengthens Ukraine’s global outreach and support. The British actor, known for his roles in successful films like the “Kingsman” series, has pledged to be a voice for Ukrainian children on the world stage to ensure a better future for them. Strong’s involvement demonstrates the charity’s efforts to engage diverse figures who can garner attention and contribute to the cause. With a range of ambassadors that includes notable personalities like Barbra Streisand and Richard Branson, United24 has successfully raised $470 million from over 110 countries, aligning with President Zelenskyy’s drive to address the pressing challenges faced by Ukraine.
