Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Allegedly Features Mods Without Credit

The release of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has been marred by controversy even before its troubled launch last week. Initially making headlines for featuring footage of a community-made mod in an official trailer, developer Aspyr claimed that the game did not contain any unauthorized content. However, traces of the same mod by ‘iamshaymin’ have now been discovered in the release build of the game, contradicting Aspyr’s earlier statements.

As highlighted by IGN, player reports revealed that the Asajj Ventress mod created by iamshaymin was initially present in the PS5 build without proper credit. Although Aspyr has since patched the issue and replaced the mod with their own version, it still existed in an earlier build of the game. The modder expressed confusion over how their content ended up in the final release, especially after being assured by Aspyr that it would not be included. The launch of the Classic Collection has been labeled a “total mess” by the modder, particularly due to reports of removed content that had been previously confirmed to be excluded.

Aspyr responded to the community’s concerns by acknowledging the mistake in including unauthorized content in the announcement footage. They assured fans that the final product does not contain any code or content from uncredited sources. Despite the backlash, the game’s online multiplayer launch and overall reception on the Switch remain under scrutiny, prompting further feedback from players and fans about their experiences with the Classic Collection.
