The Meta Quest 3, the latest virtual reality headset from Meta (formerly Facebook Reality Labs), is now available for pre-order before its official release on October 10th. The base 128GB model is priced at $499.99 and comes with a free copy of Asgard’s Wrath 2, a VR RPG worth $59.99. However, the Quest 3 is $200 more expensive than its predecessor, the Meta Quest 2, which dropped in price to $299.99 in June. The Quest 3 boasts new features like a faster processor, improved graphics, a sleeker design, and updated Touch Plus controllers.
During the Meta Connect livestream, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the Quest 3 as “the first mainstream mixed-reality headset” and “the most powerful Meta Quest yet.” The Quest 3 is equipped with a new Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, providing faster loading times and enhanced graphics. It also features a new pancake lens design with two 90Hz LCD displays, full-color Passthrough, and two RGB cameras. Despite these upgrades, the Quest 3 is 40% thinner than the Quest 2. The headset comes with the updated Touch Plus controllers, which offer a ring-free design and immersive haptic feedback functionality.
The Meta Quest 3 is now available for pre-order on Amazon, Best Buy, and the Meta Store. With its advanced features and improved performance, it aims to provide a highly immersive VR experience for users. However, potential customers should consider the higher price point compared to its predecessor and evaluate whether the upgraded features justify the additional cost.
