However, Gabe Monzo, the airport’s executive director, is optimistic that service will likely resume to Myrtle Beach in the spring. An economic study from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation stated that $100 million of the $213.9 million of the regional economic impact of arriving and departing passengers from LBE were attributed to Spirit Airlines.

Professor Jase Ramsey expressed his concern over the potential impact of Spirit Airlines’ absence, as Florida would lose its low-cost leader for family vacations. Despite this, the low-cost nature of Spirit’s pricing means it competes not only with other airlines but also with alternative modes of transportation. However, LBE airport director, Monzo, remains optimistic about Spirit continuing to provide service despite challenges.
