Pokémon to Educate World on Art at Van Gogh Museum

The Pokémon Company has partnered with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to celebrate the museum’s 50th anniversary. The collaboration aims to introduce young artists to the works of Vincent van Gogh and highlight his profound influence from Japanese art. The museum will offer on-site activations that guide visitors through a selection of Van Gogh’s paintings, as well as an online exploration of his fascination with Japanese culture. As part of the collaboration, a special collection inspired by the partnership will be available at the Pokémon Center, including promo cards featuring Pikachu wearing a grey felt hat. The collaboration will run from September 28th, 2023, until January 7th, 2024.

The Van Gogh Museum’s general director, Emilie Gordenker, stated that the collaboration will present Vincent van Gogh’s art and life story in a refreshing way, allowing the next generation to connect with his work. The partnership combines the educational expertise of the museum and The Pokémon Company International to create a special experience for children, their supervisors, and other museum visitors. The collaboration not only offers tangible on-site experiences but also provides an online platform for a deeper understanding of Van Gogh’s fascination with Japanese culture.

Even if visitors cannot attend the museum in person, they can still obtain the special ‘Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat’ promo card. These cards will be available through the Pokémon Center with orders from the exclusive collection inspired by the collaboration. However, for those interested in attending the collaboration festivities, general admission tickets for the Van Gogh Museum are now available for purchase online. The exhibition and collaboration will be ongoing from September 28th, 2023, until January 7th, 2024, providing ample time for Pokémon and art enthusiasts to enjoy this unique cultural experience.
