Other Instax Cameras and Printers
Fujifilm continues to update its Instax lineup with new features, such as parallax correction and faster USB-C charging, now present in almost all Instax cameras. However, older models remain available for purchase. Although it is generally advisable to choose the latest models, significant discounts can sometimes be found on older versions. Below are a few models worth considering.
Instax Pal for $80: Fujifilm introduced the Pal last year, a compact digital camera available in a bundle with an Instax Mini Link 2 smartphone printer and a 10-pack of Instax Mini film. While the Pal’s target market is unclear, it shares many features with the Mini Evo, though the Evo might not be as child-friendly. Testing is planned for further evaluation.
Instax SQ 6 for $150-$200: The SQ 6 surpasses the SQ 1 and SQ 40 in quality, which appear to be its successors. Despite no longer being listed on Fujifilm’s website, the SQ 6 is an excellent camera for those who prefer the square format, offering manual features like Lighten and Darken modes. Additional features include a selfie timer, close-up mode, and the ability to disable the flash. It remains available as new old stock for approximately $100-$150.
Instax Mini 11 for $80-$120: Previously discussed, the Mini 11 is rarely recommended. It is marginally less expensive than the newer Mini 12 and lacks many of the Mini 12’s advantages. It might be worth purchasing if priced under $50; otherwise, it is best avoided.
Instax Mini Link Printer for $145: Although replaced by the Mini Link 2, the differences between the two are minor, with no noticeable print quality improvements. The original Mini Link is advisable if found for less than the Link 2’s standard price of $100, as both printers are highly regarded.
Instax 7s/8/9: These older, budget models are equipped with a fixed 1/60 shutter speed, unlike the Mini 12, which offers an automatic range from 1/2 to 1/250 seconds, providing greater flexibility. As these older models are difficult to find, they are generally not recommended.
