U.S. carriers frequently update their mobile plans and offers in an effort to attract consumers to switch or upgrade their services. Verizon’s latest initiative introduces a three-year price lock. This offer allows both new and existing customers to secure the prices of their mobile or home internet plans for a period of three years. Additionally, customers have the opportunity to acquire a new smartphone.
Verizon indicates that this price lock will be automatically applied to both the myPlan and myHome network plans. Changing the tier of a myPlan will reset the price lock for another three years. To take advantage of the free phone offer, customers must trade in any Apple, Google, or Samsung phone, regardless of its condition. Furthermore, the company mentions that home internet routers are provided at no additional cost with every myHome plan. Subscribers with a compatible device can also utilize Verizon’s free satellite texting feature in areas lacking cell service.
The company describes the promotion as providing “predictability, control, simplicity, and value” in the current economic climate. This announcement came a day after President Trump introduced tariffs expected to have considerable effects across the tech industry.
However, Verizon’s promotion does include certain conditions. The fine print states that plan perks, taxes, fees, and surcharges may change over time. While the base rate of the mobile or home internet plans will remain the same, additional fees could potentially increase the total bill. It is also necessary to be on Verizon’s myPlan, which was introduced in 2023, to qualify for this offer.
Separately, Withings has released its at-home blood pressure monitor in the U.S., known as the BPM Vision. Although wearable fitness trackers do not typically offer blood pressure monitoring, Withings provides a Cardio Checkup service, allowing users to send cardiac data quarterly to specialists. The BPM Vision is FDA-cleared and offers an instructional tutorial for user guidance, and it connects to the Withings app. It features interchangeable cuffs to fit a broad range of adult users.
Earlier this year, it was noted that individuals interested in self-monitoring, specifically men in their thirties to fifties, were eager to track their blood pressure. High blood pressure, or hypertension, affects nearly half of all adults in the U.S. and, if unmanaged, can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease and stroke. The device is priced at $150 and is directly available from Withings.
At the Watches & Wonders event in Geneva, the watch industry showcased new releases for 2025. Notably, TAG Heuer unveiled the Formula 1 Solargraph collection, while Rolex introduced the Land-Dweller. TAG Heuer’s new collection marks the return of the iconic F1 watch line in a solar-powered version, capable of running for up to ten months on a full charge. Its updated design features a case size increase from 35 mm to 38 mm, with prices starting at $1,800. These watches, especially the color-strap variants, are limited-edition.
Rolex’s launch of the Land-Dweller generated significant interest, replicating the design elements of the 1976 Datejust Oysterquartz. This watch is the result of a decade of development and features Rolex’s first mechanical high-frequency movement, the calibre 7135, which operates at 5 Hz due to an escapement made primarily of silicon. Available in various materials and sizes, including steel with a white gold bezel, Everose gold, and platinum, the Land-Dweller prices start at $13,900.
