The United States has declared a new $425 million military aid package for Ukraine, as President Joe Biden seeks to enhance security support for Kyiv before the end of his term, potentially succeeded by Donald Trump.
This new package comprises air defense capabilities, air-to-ground munitions, armored vehicles, and other essential munitions, as President Biden informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a phone call on Wednesday. These funds are part of the more than $60 billion allocated for Ukraine through a military aid package approved by lawmakers earlier in the year.
In the upcoming months, the United States plans to provide Ukraine with “hundreds of air defense interceptors, dozens of tactical air defense systems, additional artillery systems, substantial quantities of ammunition, hundreds of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, and thousands of additional armored vehicles,” according to the White House.
