TuneCore Debuts ‘Priority Payouts’ for Custom Royalty Splits: A Program in Focus

Published on

TuneCore, an independent platform for self-releasing artists owned by Believe, has expanded its Splits program by introducing a new feature called Priority Payouts. This feature allows artists to determine the order in which collaborators are paid, giving them more control over revenue distribution. Through the Splits program, artists can designate a specific amount to a collaborator, ensuring they receive full payment before percentage-based splits are distributed to other contributors. This not only allows artists to recover recording costs before collaborating but also enables them to negotiate with producers. TuneCore aims to automate financial tasks associated with releasing music, fostering a vibrant creator community while ensuring fair compensation for collaborators.

TuneCore’s Priority Payouts feature is accessible to artists enrolled in a paid UNLIMITED plan through the Splits offering. Artists using TuneCore’s free New Artist plan can access splits by purchasing the Splits Collaborator add-on for an annual fee of $7.99. This expansion builds on TuneCore’s commitment to making artists’ lives easier, following the overhaul of its pricing structure last year to offer unlimited music distribution for a single annual fee. The platform has also launched services for artists to distribute music to social platforms such as TikTok and Instagram and became TikTok’s distribution partner for its SoundOn music distribution service. Headquartered in Brooklyn, TuneCore operates offices in Los Angeles and Nashville, with a global presence across five continents.

In summary, TuneCore, the independent platform for self-releasing artists, has expanded its Splits program with the introduction of the Priority Payouts feature. This feature allows artists to prioritize the order in which collaborators are paid, giving them more control over revenue distribution. Through the Splits program, artists can allocate a specific amount to a collaborator, ensuring they receive full payment before other contributors. This expansion aligns with TuneCore’s commitment to simplifying artists’ financial tasks and fostering collaboration while ensuring fair compensation for all collaborators. The Priority Payouts feature is available to artists enrolled in a paid UNLIMITED plan, and those using the free New Artist plan can access it through a separate add-on. TuneCore’s expansion of services reflects its dedication to supporting independent artists worldwide.
