Promotional efforts for the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” have largely focused on the return of characters Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, with a notable appearance by Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. However, the show is also set to introduce characters who were not part of the Netflix Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), including Jack Duquesne.
Tony Dalton, who previously portrayed the character in “Hawkeye,” will appear as Jack Duquesne in “Daredevil: Born Again” for a two-episode guest role, as reported by Variety. In “Hawkeye,” Duquesne was introduced as Kate Bishop’s soon-to-be stepfather and was initially portrayed as a potential criminal mastermind. However, it was later unveiled that the real antagonist was Kate’s mother, Eleanor, leaving Jack portrayed as a somewhat endearing character. In his last appearance, Duquesne demonstrated his sword-fighting expertise against the Tracksuit Mafia and showed an interest in LARPing, as discovered through a fellow enthusiast.
When asked why Jack is not returning in a second season of “Hawkeye,” Marvel’s TV head, Brad Winterbaum, explained to Entertainment Weekly that discussions about additional seasons for limited series are ongoing. Although the primary focus was on “Agatha All Along,” Winterbaum expressed the importance of having the “right idea” to justify new seasons. Marvel’s TV division is actively seeking opportunities to bring back characters from limited series while aiming to develop shows with potential for multiple seasons and consistent annual releases.
If a second season of “Hawkeye” is produced, it could potentially provide more screen time for Jack Duquesne. In the meantime, he will appear in “Daredevil: Born Again,” which is set to premiere its first season on March 4. Fans will have to wait to see how Jack and his iconic mustache fare in the show.
