Published on

There is both promising and challenging news concerning the teaser for Season 2 of The Last of Us.

The favorable news is that the character Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, appears to be attending therapy, with Catherine O’Hara cast as his therapist. However, the more daunting news suggests viewers may need to brace for an emotional journey. The teaser hints at significant strife, featuring scenes of Clickers attacking the town of Jackson and suggesting a strained dynamic between Joel and Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey, indicating their relationship might be under strain.

The brief preview also introduces several new characters, including former Firefly Abby (Kaitlyn Dever, Booksmart), Ellie’s girlfriend Dina (Isabela Merced, Alien: Romulus), Washington Liberation Front leader Isaac (Jeffrey Wright, American Fiction), and Jackson resident Jesse (Young Mazino, Beef). Nevertheless, the primary focus remains on Joel, who is grappling with a difficult decision made at the end of Season 1 and its repercussions on his bond with Ellie.

The Last of Us Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2025.
