Tesla has slashed the price of its Full Self Driving (Supervised) subscription in half, dropping it from $199 to $99 per month. This move comes as Tesla aims to make its electric vehicles more appealing following a challenging financial quarter in which EV shipments declined compared to previous years. The subscription, which must be added on top of the $12,000 cost to purchase Full Self Driving (Supervised) outright, now provides a more affordable option for Tesla owners to access advanced driving assistance features.
In an effort to stimulate demand, Tesla offered a free trial of Full Self Driving (Supervised) at the end of 2023, and salespeople in North America are now required to demonstrate the capabilities of the software to potential buyers. Additionally, the company raised the prices of all Model Y vehicles by $1,000 on April 1. Despite facing challenges such as the drop in EV deliveries and delays in the Cybertruck rollout, Tesla is gearing up to release a next-generation low-cost electric vehicle in 2025, focusing on innovation and market expansion.
While Tesla has faced setbacks in its financial performance, the company’s strategic adjustments, such as reducing the price of its self-driving software subscription, demonstrate its commitment to boosting sales and profitability. Tesla’s move to offer more affordable options for accessing advanced driving assistance technology aligns with its long-term vision to revolutionize the electric vehicle market. With plans to introduce new models and enhance its self-driving capabilities, Tesla remains a key player in the EV industry despite recent challenges.
