Target plans to hire 100,000 seasonal employees at its stores and supply chain facilities in preparation for the upcoming holiday shopping period. The company announced that these hires are intended to supplement its existing workforce as well as its “On Demand” employees, who work flexible schedules.
The roles available for seasonal employees at Target include guest advocate, front-of-store attendant, fulfillment expert, general merchandising expert, food and beverage expert, and style consultants. Additionally, the seasonal supply chain positions will support warehouse operations.
According to Target, the majority of these seasonal employees will be placed in retail locations. Applications for these positions will be open starting September 25. This announcement follows recent similar declarations from other companies, such as Aldi and Bath & Body Works, which plan to hire 13,000 and 30,000 seasonal workers, respectively.
Target’s holiday hiring goal of 100,000 seasonal workers matches its targets from the past three years, including 2021, 2022, and 2023. The company also plans to offer its “biggest holiday assortment ever” this year, with deals for holiday shoppers beginning as early as October, during Target Circle Week.
A recent survey by Bankrate found that 48% of holiday shoppers intended to start their holiday shopping by Halloween. The survey also revealed that 43% of shoppers expected their spending to remain stable during the 2024 holiday shopping season, 24% anticipated spending more, and 33% planned to reduce their spending this year.
