Supreme Court Restores Youngkin’s Voter Purge Order in Virginia

The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that Virginia is permitted to cancel more than 1,600 voter registrations that the state asserts are held by noncitizens ahead of the upcoming election. This emergency decision represents a setback for the Biden administration, which had previously succeeded in persuading lower courts to reinstate the registrations on the grounds that their removal occurred too near the election date.
