Miles Morales will return to the big screen, though his appearance will be later than initially expected. “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” the third installment in Sony’s acclaimed animated series, was initially set for a 2024 release. However, following the release of its predecessor, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” the film was temporarily removed from the release schedule. The new release date has been set for June 4, 2027.
This announcement came at the conclusion of a teaser trailer presented at CinemaCon 2025. The teaser showcased a vivid array of colors and shapes akin to “2001: A Space Odyssey,” featuring clips and dialogue from the previous films. Toward the end, brief scenes from the new film were shown, including Miles fighting the Prowler and the Spot, as well as entering a completely dark area through a yellow portal.
The first images from the film were also revealed, beyond the teaser’s preview. These images were produced by Sony Animation.
According to producer Phil Lord and directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, “Beyond” will surpass the first two films in scale and boldness. It will introduce new styles and innovations, picking up immediately from the conclusion of the previous movie.
The filmmakers emphasized that the extended delay was justified, given the ambitious scope of the project.
