The Senate has confirmed Paul Atkins as the new leader of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In a vote held on Wednesday evening, the Senate approved Atkins, a former Republican SEC commissioner, with a tally of 52-44. President Trump had nominated Atkins, who is also a Wall Street consultant, to head the independent financial regulatory body, characterizing him as a “proven leader” for the commission.
