Sega Reveals Sonic the Hedgehog-DC Comics Crossover

Published on

Earlier today, Sega conducted a Sonic-centric livestream titled Sonic Central, unveiling new developments related to the Sonic franchise. A notable highlight was the announcement of a collaboration between Sonic and DC Comics for a Justice League-themed comic book series, scheduled for release in March 2025.

During the 30-minute presentation, Sega revisited the animation featuring Shadow the Hedgehog as Batman, initially released by the official Sonic X/Twitter account on Batman Day. At the time, this animation puzzled many fans, but it has since been revealed as a promotional video for the upcoming Sonic and DC comic crossover.

Ivo Gerscovich, Sonic’s chief brand and business officer, indicated that the Sonic x DC collaboration will commence with a five-issue monthly comic book series written by Ian Flynn. Although details regarding the artist were not disclosed, the presentation showcased designs of Sonic characters in DC superhero roles. Sonic will portray the Flash, Shadow will become Batman, Amy will appear as Wonder Woman, Silver will take on the role of Green Lantern, and Tails will be depicted as Cyborg.

Additionally, Sega announced a forthcoming collection of these comics, accompanied by related merchandise such as clothing, accessories, and toys, expected in the fall of 2025. The presentation concluded with Gerscovich hinting that the collaboration’s promotional activities would extend into 2026.

With the Sonic x DC collaboration still six months ahead, Sega concluded the stream with a message from Jeff Fowler, director of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The video, featuring a recap of earlier Sonic films with commentary on future stories, displayed Sonic and Shadow side-by-side next to the film’s logo. There was also a brief clip of Fowler outside what appeared to be a Paramount Pictures production lot, accompanied by dancing Chao mascots.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to be released in theaters on December 20.
