Sony is providing another opportunity for those who missed the brief pre-order window for the 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 console. The pre-orders for the retro-themed hardware were initially available on September 26 but sold out quickly, causing frustration among fans due to the ordering process. According to Sony’s product page, the next chance to pre-order will occur on Tuesday, October 29, at noon ET.
The limited-edition consoles and accessories feature a design reminiscent of the original PlayStation, which debuted in Japan in 1994. The design includes a classic gray color scheme that highlights the vintage PlayStation logo prominently.
The notice about the upcoming pre-order date is displayed on the 30th Anniversary product pages for the $500 PS5 Slim Bundle and the $80 DualSense controller. However, similar information does not appear on the pages for the PS5 Pro bundle or the PlayStation Portal products.
Assuming the availability is limited to the Slim bundle, it will be a second and possibly last opportunity to purchase the more affordable option of the two consoles. This bundle includes the digital edition (without a disc drive) of the PS5 Slim, along with a themed DualSense controller, a retro cable connector housing, PlayStation-shaped cable ties, and a vertical stand. Additional items accompanying the bundle, such as a sticker, poster, and PlayStation paperclip, are expected to become collectibles and could potentially be resold at high prices when the bundle ships on November 21.
