Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 Pro will be released on November 7, with pre-orders now available for customers in the US and the UK. The PS Direct storefront began accepting pre-orders at 10 AM EDT. Those encountering a queue on the site are advised to remain in line due to high traffic volumes.
Other major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target, have set up their pre-order landing pages, although the console is still marked as “coming soon.” These retailers are expected to open pre-orders on October 10.
The PS5 Pro console is priced at $700 for pre-orders at PS Direct, with the same price expected at other large retailers.
In addition to the standard white and black models, Sony has revealed a limited edition collection to commemorate the original PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. This collection features retro gray colors inspired by Sony’s first console and includes a DualSense controller, the upgraded DualSense Edge controller, and the PlayStation Portal handheld, all with the matching PS1 aesthetic.
Pre-orders for the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection are also live on PS Direct, with the site experiencing high customer volumes and potential wait times exceeding an hour. The collection is priced at $1,000. It’s important to note that the 30th Anniversary edition of the PS5 Pro console is only available as part of this bundle. However, the DualSense ($80), Dual Sense Edge ($220), and PlayStation Portal ($220) can be pre-ordered individually. This retro color scheme is also available for the Digital Edition PlayStation 5, priced at $500 at PS Direct.
The PlayStation 5 Pro boasts several improvements, including a larger GPU, new SSR AI-based upscaling, advanced ray tracing, and a 2TB SSD with expandable storage. These enhancements promise higher frame rates and improved detail in fidelity and performance modes for compatible games.
For those unable to secure a pre-order through PS Direct, or who missed out due to high demand and potential automated purchases, a second opportunity to pre-order the PlayStation 5 Pro and 30th Anniversary versions and accessories will be available on October 10 at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target.
