No, It’s Not an iPhone 17 Render; It’s the New Xiaomi 14T Pro

Published on

The new top-tier phone from Xiaomi, the Xiaomi 14T Pro, has been officially launched, drawing notable design inspiration from the iPhone. The design team at Xiaomi appears to have emulated aspects of next year’s iPhone, resulting in a device that possesses a familiar aesthetic appeal.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro, reviewed in the Titan Gray color, features flat, aluminum edges interspersed with antenna lines. A prominent camera bump on the back houses four camera units, differing from the typical three seen on iPhones, further reinforcing the device’s striking yet unoriginal design.

The phone is slightly larger than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, boasting ultra-thin bezels on the front. The primary distinguishing feature marking it as an Android device is the dot-sized camera cut-out at the top of the display; a pill-shaped cut-out similar to the iPhone’s Dynamic Island would have exaggerated the resemblance.

Design-wise, the Xiaomi 14T Pro has received praise for its simplicity and elegance. The phone’s appearance has led several people to mistake it for an iPhone, underscoring its appealing design.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The 6.67-inch AMOLED display features a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels, a refresh rate up to 144Hz, and 4,000 nits of peak brightness.

The rear camera system, branded by Leica, consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, with the fourth circle on the back housing the flash. The front of the device features a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 14T Pro integrates several AI features, including Circle to Search with Google and support for Google Gemini, technologies previously limited to Google’s Pixel devices and select Samsung phones. Other proprietary AI features from Xiaomi include AI Notes, AI Recorder, and AI Image Editing.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro is available globally (excluding direct availability in the U.S.) and has a starting price of €800. An alternate model, the Xiaomi 14T, with a slightly less powerful chipset and lacking features such as wireless charging, is available for €650.
