The main focus of the Star Wars Celebration may be on the franchise’s film and TV segments, but Lucasfilm Publishing has cultivated a dedicated fan base through its tie-in novels, including the High Republic initiative. Since its launch in January 2021, this era is concluding soon with the upcoming release of Charles Soule’s “Trials of the Jedi,” the final book in its third phase, expected in June.
The Lucasfilm Publishing panel, “Stories From a Galaxy Far, Far Away,” at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo shared insights about future content for Star Wars readers. This panel previewed the latest publishing updates spanning from the prequel trilogy through the sequel trilogy and beyond, including details about the finale of The High Republic. Notable attendees included Adam Christopher, Tessa Gratton, Marc Guggenheim, Lydia Kang, Ethan Sacks, Phil Szostak, Alyssa Wong, and Marvel’s C.B. Cebulski.
A significant announcement was the forthcoming release of an Andor art book. According to the official press release, “The Art of Star Wars: Andor (The Complete Series)” will provide fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the Disney+ series, set in the early days of the Rebellion. It follows Cassian Andor’s evolution from a thief to a rebel spy, as depicted in “Rogue One.”
Interviews conducted by Phil Szostak, who is the author of “The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian” and Lucasfilm’s creative art manager, with various contributors, including showrunner Tony Gilroy and key creatives, will offer an in-depth look at the creative process behind the series. The book will feature numerous designs, character studies, and storyboards, serving as a comprehensive visual companion to “Andor.” However, it is priced at $50 and is scheduled for a March 2026 release.
The panel also delved into more details about the final High Republic book, “Trials of the Jedi.” Additional titles announced include comics “Star Wars: The High Republic – The Battle of Eriadu” and “Star Wars: The High Republic – The Beacon”; the Padawan adventure “The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown,” another art book titled “Industrial Light & Magic: 50 Years of Innovation”; comics “Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker” tailored for Poe Dameron enthusiasts; and new issues of “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” and “Star Wars: Jedi Knights.”
Previously unveiled information before the panel included news on future releases, such as Adam Christopher’s “Star Wars: Master of Evil” featuring Darth Vader; a lavish two-volume art book “Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy and the Star Wars Legacy”; the Halloween-themed edit “Star Wars: I Find Your Lack of Candy Disturbing” with art by Jeffrey Brown; and insights into Disney+ with behind-the-scenes explorations “The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte” and “The Acolyte Visual Guide.” Other forthcoming publications include new editions of “Star Wars: The Blueprints” and “Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy.”
During another panel titled “Manga Mania!” additional offerings were outlined from Lucasfilm Publishing’s manga segment. This includes a Kickstarter initiative for a two-volume “The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope—The Manga,” adaptations of “Star Wars: Thrawn” and “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” and a story about an aspiring Jedi titled “Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber.”
