Nearly five years have passed since the character Kylo Ren, portrayed by Adam Driver, disappeared in the final scenes of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Since that time, Disney and Lucasfilm have been cautious about developing content set in the period following the Sequel Trilogy. However, they have decided that now is the opportune moment to feature Ben Solo in a new comic series.
Authored by Charles Soule, known for “Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren,” and illustrated by Luke Ross, recognized for “Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters,” the series titled “Legacy of Vader” will resume Kylo Ren’s story after the events of “The Last Jedi.” The narrative will begin with Ren investigating the remains of Vader’s castle on Mustafar, followed by his journey through the sands of Tatooine. Additionally, the series will explore Kylo Ren’s tenure as the First Order’s Supreme Leader following his decisive action against Snoke.
Charles Soule, the writer, noted that the new comic will delve into unexplored aspects of Kylo Ren’s life, particularly focusing on how the events of the first two movies continue to impact him. Soule described Ren as “truly lost at this particular moment,” with his emotions making him unstable, angry, and dangerous. Ren’s search for guidance leads him to the only legacy he has left, that of his grandfather, the Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series is also expected to provide further insights into Vader’s character, though specific details remain undisclosed by Soule.
“Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” is scheduled to launch on February 5, 2025, with preview pages available for viewing.
