The long-awaited iPhone iOS 18.1 is set to officially launch next week, introducing new features, including Apple Intelligence. However, the focus has already shifted to the upcoming iOS 18.2, which is currently in its beta phase and is scheduled for a wide release in December. This forthcoming operating system will offer daily Sudoku puzzles for Apple News+ subscribers, as reported by MacRumors.
Subscribers will have the option to select from three difficulty levels each day, ranging from easy to challenging. Additionally, there will be a scoreboard to track statistics, such as the total number of puzzles solved and speed metrics. This Sudoku feature marks the fourth puzzle game available with an Apple News+ subscription, joining Crossword, Crossword Mini, and Quartiles. The New York Times also provides a variety of games with their subscription, including Wordle, highlighting a growing trend in this area.
Sudoku will also be made available for Apple News+ subscribers with the launch of iPadOS 18.2, and similar features are rumored for the release of macOS Sequoia 15.2. The Apple News+ service costs $13 per month independently but is frequently part of a bundle with Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud storage.
In addition to number-based mobile games, iOS 18.2 will include an expansion of Apple Intelligence, featuring the custom emoji creator Genmoji and ChatGPT/Siri integration. A new child safety feature is also being introduced, which can blur nude content and report it to Apple.
