Marvel Studios has unveiled the first full-length trailer for the upcoming film Fantastic Four: First Steps, generating excitement among Marvel fans. This retro-futuristic addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) quickly reacquaints audiences with Marvel’s First Family and their familiar backstory. The trailer begins with a primer on the Fantastic Four, delivered by talk show host Ted Gilbert, played by Mark Gatiss.
The trailer introduces the team of astronauts—Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn)—who return to Earth from space with newfound superpowers. Reed becomes the elastic Mr. Fantastic, Sue wields forcefields and can become invisible as the Invisible Woman, Ben transforms into the super-strong Thing, and Johnny becomes the fiery Human Torch.
Fantastic Four: First Steps highlights these powers but also focuses on the characters’ family dynamics, such as Ben praising the robot H.E.R.B.I.E.’s cooking and Johnny accidentally discovering that Sue and Reed are expecting a child.
The film features two major Marvel villains. The Silver Surfer, portrayed by Julia Garner, arrives on Earth with a dire warning: the planet has been marked for destruction. This threat comes from Galactus, a planet-consuming entity played by Ralph Ineson. The trailer provides a glimpse of Galactus’s massive shadow and his presence in New York City, suggesting the daunting challenge the Fantastic Four will face.
Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to premiere in theaters on July 25.
