The macOS Sequoia 15.4 update has been released, offering several notable enhancements to the Mac operating system. This marks the fourth significant update since the initial launch of macOS Sequoia last September. Previous updates introduced Apple Intelligence features, including support for ChatGPT, AI-generated images and editing via Image Playground, enhancements to Siri, AI-powered Writing Tools, and AI-generated emojis known as Genmoji. Additionally, Apple made updates to the Photos, Safari, and Weather apps and introduced notification summaries in Messages and Mail.
The latest update continues to build on existing features and introduces new elements. One of the key updates is the redesign of the Mail app, which was previously rolled out to iPhones with iOS 18.2. Emails are now automatically categorized into Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions, aiming to help users prioritize essential messages more effectively. Users who prefer the traditional interface can disable the automated mail categorization.
In terms of Apple Intelligence, the update brings minor enhancements, such as the ability to create Memory movies in the Photos app on Macs, and the addition of a “Sketch” style option in Image Playground, complementing the existing Animation and Illustration styles. Apple Intelligence has also been expanded to support new languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese.
The update introduces eight new emojis, which are also available on iPhones with the iOS 18.4 update. The inclusion of the “Face with Bags Under Eyes” emoji is expected to become quite popular.
As nearly a year has passed since Apple announced macOS Sequoia, anticipation is building for the next generation of macOS, which is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming WWDC on June 9. Observers are keenly watching for rumors about potential new developments.
