WASHINGTON (Reuters) – On Friday, Delta Air Lines requested that the U.S. Transportation Department permit a postponement in resuming four of its daily flights to China, attributing the need to persistent market challenges.
Currently, Delta operates daily routes to Shanghai from both Seattle and Detroit. However, the airline seeks authorization to forgo reinstating two additional daily flights to Shanghai and two daily flights to Beijing. The previous week saw a similar request from United Airlines, which also sought permission from the DOT to not operate 6 of its 9 daily flights to China.
