Deconstructing the Strange EyeSight Display in Apple Vision Pro: A Teardown

Published on

The Vision Pro’s new EyeSight display, which projects a visual feed of the user’s own eyes, has caught the attention of tech enthusiasts. The display uses a stereoscopic 3D effect to make virtual eyes look more life-like on the curved OLED panel. However, the addition of layers for this effect results in oddly pinched eyes and a dim display output. iFixit has yet to give the Vision Pro a repairability score, but they have found that the front glass panel was difficult to detach from the main body. Despite this, the modular design, especially of the speakers and external battery, may still earn the device some points.

In its teardown analysis, iFixit revealed that Apple’s Vision Pro utilizes a unique EyeSight display that projects a visual feed of the user’s own eyes for better connection with people in the real world. However, the display’s use of a stereoscopic 3D effect has led to some drawbacks, such as oddly pinched eyes and a dim output. While the repairability score is still pending, the overall modular design, including the speakers and external battery, may still earn some positive points.

The teardown also unveiled that the front glass panel of the Vision Pro was challenging to detach from the main body, suggesting potential repair difficulties. Nevertheless, tech enthusiasts can head over to iFixit for a closer look at the teardown process and to see if the unique EyeSight display is worth the trade-offs.
