Following the release of the highly anticipated film Deadpool & Wolverine, the 2015 PlayStation 4 video game “Deadpool” has experienced a surge in demand, causing prices to skyrocket on platforms like eBay. Fans eager to secure a copy of the game have been willing to pay as much as £116, with unopened copies in pristine condition fetching as high as £330. Due to the game no longer being available for digital download, enthusiasts must now turn to physical copies to acquire it.
Originally launched in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the 2015 re-release of “Deadpool” has become increasingly scarce, leading to inflated prices in the market. According to PriceCharting, which monitors online media sales, the game was once available for a fraction of its current price but has seen a steady increase in value since filming for the third Deadpool movie began in May 2023. With the movie’s release in July 2024 achieving great success at the box office and a positive reception from fans, the game’s price has surged to record levels.
The popularity of stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who portray the titular characters in Deadpool & Wolverine, has contributed to the heightened interest in the game and subsequent rise in prices. Reynolds expressed gratitude to fans for their support of the film on Instagram, acknowledging the overwhelming success as “kind of hard to process.” Beyond their Hollywood ventures, Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney’s ownership of the Welsh football club and its rise to League One was also highlighted in the TV series Welcome to Wrexham.
