CC Sabathia, anticipated to be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame as early as next year, has recently shifted his passion to another sport. He leverages this interest to give back to the youth in communities that have supported him throughout his life.
On Monday, Sabathia hosted his 4th Annual Golf Tournament, sponsored by Kaulig Companies, at Alpine Country Club in New Jersey. The event featured a star-studded guest list, including current and former athletes from the New York Yankees and New York Giants. The tournament aimed to benefit Sabathia’s PitCCh In Foundation.
Founded in 2008 by Sabathia and his wife Amber, the PitCCh In Foundation has made a significant impact on youth in Cleveland, New York, and California. The foundation offers three signature programs: an All-Star Baseball Clinic, a Youth Backpack Program, and Field Renovations, which collectively support children’s success both on the field and academically.
Sabathia, speaking with FOX Business at the Alpine Country Club before the tournament, emphasized the importance of maintaining a presence in communities through the foundation’s work. He highlighted the ongoing commitment and follow-up as crucial elements of their initiatives.
Matt Kaulig, the owner of NASCAR’s Kaulig Racing and a board member at Leaf Home, has long collaborated with Sabathia, particularly in northeast Ohio. Kaulig expressed satisfaction with being the title sponsor of the tournament and praised the foundation’s work.
Tim Clepper, president, and CEO of Kaulig Companies, noted the positive impact Sabathia and Kaulig have on children, serving as role models and inspiring youth to aspire to their achievements.
The event included participation from several sports legends such as Michael Strahan and Victor Cruz, and current athletes like Nestor Cortes Jr. and Jazz Chisholm Jr. PitCCh In kids also participated, engaging with golfers and demonstrating their dance skills, showcasing the foundation’s vibrant community spirit.
For Sabathia, golf has become a new avenue to connect with his children, especially his oldest son, and use the sport for charitable initiatives. Baseball remains a key aspect of his legacy, but golf provides another platform for Sabathia to foster connections and support his PitCCh In Foundation’s mission.
