Apple offers fix for ‘Ghost Touch’ problem on Apple Watch Series 7+.

Published on

Apple has acknowledged that the touch-related bug affecting the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 also impacts the Apple Watch Series 7, Series 8, and Ultra 1. Service providers have been advised not to replace watches for the ghost touch issue, but instead, instruct customers to perform a force restart to resolve the problem. This can be done by simultaneously holding down the side button and the Digital Crown for 10 seconds. Apple has also requested that affected Apple Watches have the latest version of watchOS installed to ensure optimal performance.

The touch-related problem first came to light in February and was initially observed on the Series 9 and Ultra 2 models. Users reported experiencing “false” or “ghost” touches on the display, leading to erratic screen behavior without any user input. The remedy for this ghost touch issue was introduced in watchOS 10.4, implying that this software update should address the problem on all affected models. However, Apple’s memo suggests that if the issue persists, a further fix will be issued soon to rectify the situation and provide users with a seamless experience.

Apple’s proactive approach to addressing the touch-related bug on various Apple Watch models demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing high-quality customer service and ensuring a smooth user experience. By instructing service providers to guide customers through a force restart and ensure the latest software updates are installed, Apple is taking the necessary steps to resolve the ghost touch issue promptly. With a fix already implemented in watchOS 10.4, affected Apple Watch users can expect a seamless performance that eliminates the disruptive ghost touches on their devices.
