The newly revealed image of the silver Mac Mini displays what appear to be a headphone jack and two USB-C ports on its front, potentially offering at least Thunderbolt 4 support. This model is available in both base and Pro versions featuring the new M4 chipset, providing up to 14 CPU cores, 20 GPU cores, 64GB of memory, and 8TB of storage. Details regarding the ports on the backside have not been disclosed at this time.
The M4 chipset represents a substantial upgrade from the M2 chip found in the earlier Mac Mini models, last updated in January 2023. This increase in power is expected to enhance current and upcoming Apple Intelligence processing capabilities, raising performance from 15.8 TOPS to 38 TOPS, as reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
Additionally, Gurman describes the new compact Mini as approaching the size of an Apple TV streamer. When compared side by side with the Mac Studio, its smaller size appears to offer a compelling blend of compactness and performance.
There is speculation that Apple will officially announce the Mac Mini later today, which is expected to include comprehensive details and pricing information.
