China has declared the imposition of additional tariffs of 34 percent on US imports. This announcement follows a recent decision by President Donald Trump to implement similar duties as part of his assertive trade strategy.
The Ministry of Commerce indicated on Friday that the new tariffs would apply to all goods imported from the US starting April 10. As a result, levies on Chinese exports are expected to exceed 60 percent after the announcement of “reciprocal” tariffs of 34 percent, which are in addition to existing tariffs.
In response, Beijing criticized the new US tariffs, labeling them as “a typical unilateral bullying move” that “violates international trade rules and severely harms China’s legitimate rights and interests.”
