Predicted Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Titles: Our Game Lineup Forecast

Published on

The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation is approaching, and many are making predictions about what it might entail. Scheduled for Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. ET, Nintendo is expected to unveil the details of the Switch 2, including its price and release date. While these details are important, the focus is on potential game offerings. At present, Nintendo has hinted at one game likely to be part of the launch lineup, leaving the rest to speculation.

Predictions have been made about the games available at the Switch 2 launch later this year, based on a brief January reveal video and online rumors. One game that was showcased in the video is a new Mario Kart installment, expected to be the ninth in the series, although it could be named differently. The teaser confirmed an expansion in race participants from 12 to possibly 24 and hinted at larger tracks and potential gameplay changes like new character designs and additional features, such as a possible boost meter.

Another strong prediction is for a new 3D Super Mario adventure, given that nearly eight years have elapsed since the release of Super Mario Odyssey. Considering the time lapse and Nintendo’s strategy to market the new console, it seems plausible that a new Super Mario game could accompany the Switch 2 either at launch or soon thereafter.

Speculation also surrounds Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Although a recent trailer did not include a specific release date, just “2025,” there is hope it could be a Switch 2 launch title, offering a more hardcore option alongside Mario Kart if the Super Mario game is not ready at launch.

Additionally, it is expected that Nintendo might unveil at least one major third-party game to showcase the technical capabilities of Switch 2. Leaks indicate potential titles such as Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Ubisoft might also feature recent Assassin’s Creed entries like Mirage or Shadows. Although this is speculation, these titles could demonstrate the console’s performance.

There is also a possibility of a Zelda remaster. While new The Legend of Zelda games are unlikely given recent releases, reports suggest that Nintendo used a revamped version of Breath of the Wild to demonstrate the Switch 2 to partners, raising expectations of a remaster early in the console’s lifespan.

Other potential launches include a new entry in the Animal Crossing series or an announcement related to Fire Emblem. Both series enjoyed success on the Switch 1, and new titles could appear on Switch 2 within its first year.

These predictions remain speculative until confirmed, but they reflect realistic possibilities for Nintendo’s upcoming Direct presentation.
