Oura Launches AI Wellness Advisor from Beta

Published on

Oura, the company known for the Oura Ring that brought smart rings into the spotlight, has announced the release of its AI-based Oura Advisor to all current subscribers, transitioning it out of beta. The Oura Advisor functions as a contextual chatbot designed to provide advice based on user input. For example, if a user experiences a migraine after attending a concert without adequate hydration, the Advisor can provide hydration tips rather than criticize the user’s choices. The AI offers three different tones for delivering advice, allowing users to select the most suitable approach for their preferences.

Currently under review by users, the Oura Ring 4, equipped with the Oura Advisor, demonstrates how AI can organize and present the extensive data collected by the smart ring. New users may initially find the data overwhelming, but the Advisor offers an accessible way to query specific information. The Advisor also records interactions as “Memories,” allowing users to view and delete past chats while providing long-term trend analysis.

Having been in beta within Oura Labs for nearly a year, the Oura Advisor follows the successful launch of another feature, the Symptom Radar. Other features still in the beta phase include periodic heart check-ins and meal tracking. As the health and wellness wearable industry, including Samsung Health, begins to adopt AI-powered features based on aggregated data, Oura aims to distinguish itself by providing valuable insights that justify its $7 monthly subscription fee. In contrast, while Samsung considers introducing subscription features, they are still refining their offerings. For companies like Oura, making their AI-driven products indispensable is critical to encouraging user subscriptions.
