Amazon aims to position Prime Video as a primary destination for election night coverage. The company revealed plans to stream a live election night special on Prime Video, to be hosted by Brian Williams, a former anchor of NBC Nightly News. This special is scheduled to begin on November 5th at 5 PM ET.
Brian Williams will be accompanied by various guests, including notable contributors from both news and traditional media, representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives. They will share real-time poll results and offer commentary while referencing third-party news sources from across the political spectrum. According to a blog post by Amazon, the event promises to be an "informative, accessible, and non-partisan presentation." The guests for this event are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The live show and Williams’ participation had been speculated upon the previous month. This election night special marks another addition to Amazon’s live programming on Prime Video. Previously, Amazon has broadcast live NFL Thursday Night Football games since 2022 and is set to stream numerous NBA games starting in 2025.
