Squid Game Stars React to Season 2 Fan Theories with Laughter

Published on

Season one of Squid Game was replete with mysteries, twists, and unexpected revelations, contributing to its widespread popularity and critical acclaim. The series earned six Emmys and made history with the first Outstanding Drama Series nomination for a non-English language show. Consequently, fans are speculating about what to expect when the show returns in December.

In a new video released as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, actors Lee Jung-jae (who portrayed the unlikely but endearing winner Seong Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun (the enigmatic Front Man), and Wi Ha-jun (the determined detective Hwang Jun-ho) engage with fan theories submitted by viewers globally.

Among the highlighted fan theories are:

  1. Season two will delve deeper into the backstory of the Squid Game staff, potentially from their point of view. Wi Ha-Jun finds this theory interesting but dismisses it.
  2. The color of the envelope chosen by prospective Squid Game competitors during recruitment holds special significance. Lee Byung-hun humorously suggests that only the fan who proposed this theory believes it.
  3. Gi-hun will seek vengeance on the loan sharks who compelled him to join the game initially. Lee Jung-jae questions this theory by recalling his character’s moments of aggression in season one.

The video reveals that viewers can expect "many new games" in season two, which are all Korean games, and promises that the new season will be "more interesting than all these theories combined." Additionally, the video reintroduces viewers to the returning stars, who are notably more amiable in real life than their on-screen personas.

The new cast for season two includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an. Details about their characters remain sparse, leaving room for further speculation.

More details will emerge, with even more revelations anticipated in the third and final season, when Squid Game season two premieres on Netflix on December 26.
