Capcom acknowledges frame rate issues in Dragon’s Dogma 2 for PC, assessing solutions.

Published on

Capcom’s highly anticipated fantasy RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2, is set to launch on March 12th, but PC players may face frame rate performance issues due to the heavy CPU demand from NPCs in the game. Capcom acknowledged the problem and assured players that they are working on improving performance in the future. Unlike other games that offer Performance or Graphics modes, Dragon’s Dogma 2 only has one visual mode across all platforms.

Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have also reported frame rate inconsistencies, with high CPU and memory bandwidth demands impacting gameplay. Even high-end PCs, including the Steam Deck, have struggled to run the game smoothly. Despite the performance issues, some IGN staff members have found that the gameplay experience of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is still enjoyable, with the stunning landscapes and thrilling combat overshadowing the technical drawbacks.

IGN’s editorial producer, Mitchell Saltzman, noted that while the performance issues are distracting at times, they do not detract from the core experience of the game. Although the framerate may be inconsistent, players like gameplay producer Ronny Barrier have found joy in exploring Dragon’s Dogma 2’s world. The developers are working on optimizing performance for all platforms, aiming to provide a smoother gameplay experience for all players.
