Bambu Lab is issuing a recall for all A1 3D printers due to “unstable temperature readings” linked to a faulty heatbed cable, after it found “less than 0.1% of all the A1 printers sold” were affected. The company urges owners to stop using the A1 printer immediately and is offering full refunds or repair vouchers. Bambu is also offering customers vouchers to use for other printers or towards a redesigned A1 printer, which will be available by May.

The company is not recalling any other printers in its lineup, maintaining that the X1 series, P1 series, and A1 Mini are safe to use. If A1 owners choose to repair the printer themselves, Bambu will extend the printer’s warranty by six months. Customers need to inform the company of their choice via a registration page provided. In addition, Bambu has posted video and written tutorials to guide customers through the self-repair process.

It is made clear that the company’s official resellers “should” offer the same terms to those who purchased through one of them, and Bambu urges A1 printer owners to consider their options and inform the company of their decision via a registration page. The new heatbeds for the A1 are estimated to be ready around the end of March, with replacement parts taking up to 15 business days to process each refund. Additionally, a follow-up notice for more details was added on February 5th, 2024.
