A man decided to convert his outdoor firepit to be smokeless but realized his Milwaukee M12 hammer drill wasn’t powerful enough to drill one-inch vent holes in the thick steel ring. The host on the YouTube channel, Let’s Learn Something, created a V8-powered drill using a Toyan model engine. The drill, although less practical than a typical cordless drill, actually works surprisingly well.
The V8 drill was fabricated from an old cordless impact wrench, on which the host custom-built a mount to bolt the engine. After also crafting a custom battery compartment for the drill, it fired up and began charging the chuck. Using the V8 drill, quite literally it was like holding the power of a V8 engine in the palm of your hand. The V8 drill was powerful enough to drill through plate steel, and the host joked that if he broke it out while working in the garage with friends, nobody would ever want to use a regular drill again.
After realizing his Milwaukee drill wasn’t up to the challenge, a man watched a video on Let’s Learn Something and decided to create his own V8-powered drill using a Toyan model engine. The host on the YouTube channel took apart a cordless impact wrench and, with an angle grinder, cut the top off and fabricated a mount to attach the engine. Once the custom battery was made and fluids were added, the V8-powered drill was ready to go, sounding like a bite-sized Corvette as he revved it up. The joke was that while the V8 drill wouldn’t be practical, if the host used it while working with friends, nobody would want to use a regular drill again.
