Apple to Fix iPhone 15 Pro Overheating with iOS 17 Update

Published on

Apple is planning to release an iOS 17 update to address an overheating issue reported by iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users. The company stated that recent updates to third-party apps like Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt 9: Legends have overloaded the system, contributing to the problem. Apple is working with the app developers to fix the issue, with Instagram already releasing an update. The bug is expected to be fixed in iOS 17.1, which is currently in beta and set to be released in late October. Apple assures users that the issue is not a safety risk and will not affect the long-term performance of affected iPhones.

According to Apple, the overheating issue in the iPhone 15 Pro models is a temporary condition that occurs during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device due to increased background activity. The company has identified a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and plans to address it with a software update. Apple has also acknowledged that recent updates to third-party apps have caused them to overload the system and contribute to the overheating issue. Instagram has already released a fix for the problem, and Apple is working with other app developers to roll out fixes as well.

The bug fix is expected to be included in the upcoming iOS 17.1 update, scheduled for release in late October. However, Apple may also release a smaller software update, such as iOS 17.0.3, to address the issue sooner. Apple has stated that the performance of the A17 Pro chip will not be reduced as part of the bug fix. The company also denies that the titanium frame on the iPhone 15 Pro models negatively impacts thermal efficiency and does not recognize it as a hardware problem. Apple assures users that the issue is not a safety risk and will not have any long-term impact on the affected iPhones.
