$800 million of unlocks expected in February from Avalanche, Optimism, Aptos, and more.

In February, a number of cryptocurrency projects are set to unlock significant amounts of tokens. The data from TokenUnlocks reveals upcoming unlocks and airdrops for the month. Noteworthy unlocks include 25 million tokens of Aptos, 205 million tokens of The Sandbox, 9.5 million tokens of Avalanche, and 24 million tokens of Optimism. Combined, these tokens represent a total value of over $726 million. Numerous smaller unlocks also occur throughout the month including those of Cyberconnect, ApeCoin, Manta Network, Oasis Network, and Space ID tokens, with values ranging from $5 million to $20 million.

One of the most significant upcoming events is the unlock of 25 million Aptos tokens worth $222 million, which will represent over 7% of the token’s circulating supply. Additionally, The Sandbox will unlock 205 million tokens worth $88 million and Avalanche will unlock 9.5 million tokens worth $344 million, accounting for 2.6% and 60% of their circulating supplies, respectively. Finally, Optimism will unlock 24 million tokens worth $72 million, representing 2.5% of the Ethereum L2 network’s circulating supply. The smaller token unlocks throughout the month range from $5 million to $21 million. The total value of the significant unlocks and the smaller unlocks combined surpasses $1 billion, demonstrating the key role that these tokens play in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
